Hi, I’m Joe Heller, a husband, and father to 4 wonderful children. An Indiana native, I grew up with a curiosity about all things. I just wanted to know how everything thing worked. This curiosity was brought to a focus on technology. Both of my parents worked in technology. My father, working a the telephone company and my mother, teaching computer science at our local high school.
From my earliest beginnings with computers, I was not only interested in playing games but I also saw the power of making a machine do work. I was so fascinated by the potential of computers, I convinced my mother to let me enroll early in her computer programming classes…then proceeded to take all the independent study classes that the school would allow.
Choosing Purdue University was an easy decision. Being the first Department of Computer Sciences in the US, their well-established program was fulfilling as much as it was challenging. I will forever cherish my time at Purdue. My involvement in the Purdue All-American Marching Band and EPCIS were two of my top 3 highlights. Topping the list was meeting my wife.
Just before graduating in 2003, I interned at a software company in Indianapolis. Putting my curiosity and education to work, I knew this was what I would be doing for some time.
